Club Brugge defender, Denis Odoi has been tipped by BBC Sports Journalist, John Bennett as a quality addition to the Black Stars in their quest to triumph over the Super Eagles of Nigeria and book a place in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
The right back is part of a few new names to be honouring their first invite to the senior national team of Ghana and would be looking to win the heart of coach Otto Addo as Ghana battles Nigeria on Friday.
John Bennett is confident Denis Odoi will defy all odds and become an integral part of the current Black Stars team.
“He can play right back, he can play center back as well, I’m still not sure where his best position will be. I guess he is in the Ghana squad to be a right back, i like him. He is a quality player. He is somebody to compete with Andy Yiadom. I think he is a really good pick. He brings extra quality in that back line” he told Starr FM.
On the battle between the sharp attack of Nigeria and the defense of Ghana, John Bennett indicated that, Denis Odoi will be very important just like the technical advisor, Hughton, whose trademark is organising the defense.
“He is going to be severely tested because we know Nigeria have a fantastic attacking line up. They’ve got so many combination. We know Osihmen would be at the top, Simon, very very exciting player…, Chukweze, , Ademola Lookman. They’ve got so many options so, defensively it’s going to be a severe test for Ghana. That’s why its an advantage to have Chris Hughton to help organize defense. Its an advantage to have Odoi…” He added.
The former Belgium under 21 defender has made 7 appearances in the Jupiler Pro League this season for Club Brugge.
