NDC does not have to fail for Bawumia to become president – Dennis Aboagye

Dennis Aboagye says Dr Mahamudu Bawumia can win the 2028 presidential election without relying on the NDC government’s failure.

NPP communications director hopeful, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, says the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) does not have to fail for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to win the 2028 presidential election.

Speaking to Isaac Addae on The Verdict on Starr FM on Tuesday, August 25, Mr Aboagye rejected the argument that the only path for Dr Bawumia to the presidency is for the current government to perform poorly.

“ I am not one of those people that think that the only way is to demonize this government .No, I don’t subscribe to that,” he said.

Mr Aboagye said such a position would amount to underestimating the Ghanaian electorate, which he believes has become more discerning in how it decides who to support at the polls.

“You are underrating the sophistication of the Ghanaian voter,” he stated.

He argued that voters are increasingly concerned about issues that directly affect their lives, including roads, schools and employment, rather than simply voting based on political colours.

“When people are going to vote, they vote for the roads they don’t have. They vote for the schools they don’t have.” he said.

Mr Aboagye said this approach would shape the 2028 election, with voters expected to compare the various presidential candidates based on the solutions they propose to the country’s challenges.

“Dr Bawumia’s campaign should be centred on what he can offer Ghanaians rather than solely on criticism of the NDC government.” he believes

He said the critical question for voters would be which candidate can present solutions capable of addressing the challenges confronting the country in 2028.

“Amongst all the people asking for our vote, who amongst them is proposing solutions that address the challenges we face as of 2028?” he asked.

Mr Aboagye maintained that the electorate would ultimately make its choice by comparing the competing candidates and determining whose proposals they believe can provide relief.

“They are going to put Dr Mahamudu Bawumia here, and put any other person also vying for president, and see who is telling us the things that will give us relief,” he said.

He further cautioned against allowing political distractions to take attention away from the issues that matter to voters.

“And that, for me, is why we should not allow any politician, especially those in government, to create a facade and continuously distract us from paying attention to the issues,” he said.
