Deputy Transport Minister and Member of Parliament for Jomoro Constituency, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, marked her birthday on May 4 with a charitable gesture at Half Assini Hospital, where she supported mothers and newborns at the facility’s maternity ward.
The intervention, carried out on her behalf by her representative, Mr. John Nyamekeh, involved the donation of essential items including baby supplies, hygiene products, and other materials aimed at supporting maternal and neonatal care.
In addition to the donations, the deputy minister paid the medical bills of all mothers who delivered at the hospital on her birthday, ensuring that beneficiaries could return home without any financial burden.
Delivering her message, Mr. Nyamekeh noted that the MP believes childbirth should be a moment of joy rather than anxiety, reaffirming her commitment to improving maternal healthcare, particularly in district facilities that serve as the first point of care for many families.

The maternity ward at Half Assini Hospital plays a crucial role in providing healthcare services to surrounding communities, often operating under resource constraints and increasing patient demand.
Hospital staff expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful, while beneficiaries also conveyed gratitude, noting that the support would significantly ease the burden on their families.
Hon. Affo-Toffey reiterated her commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery in the Jomoro Constituency, with a focus on initiatives that improve maternal and child health outcomes.
