Firefighters from the Nkwawkaw Fire Station successfully rescued a 3-year-old child who fell into a latrine at Asuogya, Nkawkaw, on March 23, 2026.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the emergency call was received at 3:03 p.m., and a rescue team was immediately dispatched to the scene.
“Upon arrival, the team quickly assessed the situation and initiated prompt rescue operations,” the GNFS said in a statement.
“Through skill, professionalism, and swift action, the firefighters safely rescued the child alive, who was at risk of drowning.”
The toddler was promptly transported to Holy Family Hospital for medical attention. Eyewitnesses praised the quick response and dedication of the firefighters. One resident said, “Their intervention saved the child’s life.”
