The Ministry of Education has invited the leadership of the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) and the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to an urgent meeting today, Monday, October 12, 2026, to resolve the ongoing strike by university administrators.
The industrial action has disrupted preparations for the 2026/2027 academic year, forcing the University of Ghana to postpone its reopening, which was scheduled for Monday, October 12. The university has said a revised date will be announced in due course.
The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has also postponed its reopening, initially scheduled for October 13, citing the strike’s impact on its operations and administration.
