The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced closing its offices nationwide to the public until further notice due to COVID-19 concerns.
As a precautionary measure, the Executive Council of the GFA has asked some staff to start working remotely while a select few reports to work at its Ridge headquarters. The same directive applies to all its regional and district offices.
In a statement Thursday, the GFA also encouraged its members to use online systems to communicate with the Secretariat.
“Members of the GFA including clubs, Regional Football Associations, etc. are being reminded to use the online systems of the GFA (email, Registration System – FIFA Connect) to communicate with the Secretariat until the offices reopen,” read a statement on ghanafa.org.
“The GFA will continue to engage with the Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Service on the next steps and inform our staff and stakeholders accordingly of any changes.
“This is part of the precautionary measures being undertaken by the Executive Council of the GFA to curb the spread of the pandemic.
“The GFA is also reminding clubs that are still engaged in training to desist with immediate effect and fully respect the directive from H.E. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo–Addo,” the statement added.
Ghana first recorded two positive cases of the COVID-19 pandemic on Thursday, March 12 but the number has increased to 11 in one week.
