Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has denied reports suggesting Ghana may be included in a new United States travel ban, insisting it has received no official communication to that effect.
This clarification comes in response to reports indicating that the Trump administration is considering visa restrictions on citizens from 36 countries – Ghana among them – including 24 other African nations.
Speaking in Parliament on Thursday, June 19, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, assured Ghanaians to remain calm as governemnt has not recieved any official communique from the U.S authority.
Mr. Ablakwa emphasized the Foreign Affairs Ministry has taken steps to verify the claims and, so far, there is no evidence to support them.

He stressed Ghana’s long-standing diplomatic ties with the United States and pledged continued engagement with U.S. officials to ensure Ghanaian travelers and interests are safeguarded.
“Ghana has not been officially notified that we are going to be placed on any prohibition list or on any ban where our citizens cannot travel to the U.S.,” he stated.

The Minister added, “I have asked that we be assured that those leaks do not carry merit. So far, I can tell the people of Ghana that there is no cause for alarm.”
