The Ministry of Interior has reintroduced a ban on motorbike usage in the Binduri District following Monday’s deadly attack on buses under military escort at Bazua in the Upper East Region.
The directive takes immediate effect and restricts all residents from using motorbikes within the district.
The decision comes after armed assailants ambushed two buses travelling under military protection along the Bawku–Bolgatanga highway, an attack that reportedly left about 10 people dead and several others injured.
Binduri had previously been placed under a similar restriction during periods of heightened insecurity, before the ban was lifted months ago following relative calm.
The latest reimposition has triggered concern among residents, many of whom rely heavily on motorbikes for daily movement and livelihoods.
Motorbikes remain the primary mode of transport in Binduri, used for commuting, farming activities, and access to health and market centres.
Security has since been reinforced along the Bazua enclave and the Bawku–Bolgatanga corridor as investigations into the attack continue.
