Government has released first-quarter funds to settle outstanding scholarship arrears owed to Ghanaian students studying abroad.
This was announced by the Ghana Scholarships Authority in a statement dated Thursday, April 16, 2026.
According to the Authority, the release is aimed at gradually clearing arrears and easing concerns of affected beneficiaries in the United Kingdom and other countries.
“This intervention forms part of ongoing efforts by Government to progressively address delays in the payment of stipends and tuition fees,” the statement said.
The Authority acknowledged the difficulties faced by students and assured them of government’s continued commitment to their welfare.
“The Authority acknowledges the concerns of our sponsored students and deeply regrets the inconvenience caused by these delays. Government remains fully committed to the welfare of Ghanaian students abroad,” it added.
It further stated that processes are underway to ensure prompt disbursement and to prevent future delays.
“The Authority is working diligently with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that these payments are processed promptly and that such delays are minimized going forward,” it noted.
Students have been urged to remain calm and focus on their studies as the Authority works to clear all outstanding obligations.
