Managing Director of the State Housing Company, John Bawa, has appealed to the Ghana Publishing Company to assist his outfit in stamping out the issue of unauthentic gazettes and fake receipts.
According to Mr. Bawa, the SHC has had a persistent issue with unauthentic gazettes and forged receipts, which are sometimes submitted by spouses or individuals to claim ownership of properties. Speaking during a courtesy call by the Acting Managing Director of the Ghana Publishing Company Limited, Nana Kwasi Boatey, on April 8, 2025, John Bawa bemoaned the practice.
The discussions between the two MDs focused on areas of mutual benefit and collaborations on how the two state-owned entities can explore viable business opportunities to deliver value to their customers and the general public.
The Acting Managing Director of the SHC, John Bawa, in his remarks, revealed that conversations with Nana Kwasi Boatey, Esq. prior to the courtesy call had largely centered on strengthening collaborations and business opportunities among state-owned enterprises.
“We’ve had an extensive discussion on this topic, and our discussion has gone beyond just Ghana Publishing Company Ltd. and State Housing Company to why agencies within the government sector must do business with each other…” John Bawa said.
“…It is an agenda I’m passionate about, and so our team here knows my stand on some of these things…” he added.
According to the Head of Legal at the SHC, Madam Rita Duffie, it is frustrating for some clients who come with property documents with their names altered—which must then be gazetted—as undue delays in the gazetting process pose a huge challenge to property acquisition. Madam Duffie thus requested a special arrangement with the GPCL to expedite gazette acquisition and verification processes.
Nana Kwasi Boatey assured the Head of Legal that her request would be considered.
“…In fact, there are a lot of organizations we already do that with. They bring us their gazetting in bulk, and we send them a bill afterward… there are a lot of opportunities,” he said.
The discussions concluded with both parties expressing optimism and an unflinching commitment to working collaboratively for the mutual benefit of the two organizations.
Present at the meeting were some members of the SHC management, including Deputy Managing Director Sam Atuquaye Quaye; Head of Legal, Madam Rita Duffie; and Head of Development, Mr. Daniel Dwamena.
The Acting Managing Director of the GPCL, Nana Kwasi Boatey, was accompanied by the Corporate Affairs Manager, Lantam Papanko, and the Assistant Administrative Manager, Joshua Nana Kwame Ayira.
