Joana Cujoe will win the Amenfi Central seat – Edudzi Tamakloe

The director for legal affairs of the National Democratic Congress Godwin Edudzi declares that the Parliamentary Candidate for Amenfi Central in the western region Joana Gyan Cudjoe’s disqualification did not come as a surprise to the part.

The Electoral Commission has officially disqualified Joana Gyan Cudjoe from running as the NDC parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central in the 2024 Parliamentary elections.

This decision is in respect to a petition referencing a pending court order for an interlocutory injunction, which barred the Commission from identifying Madam Cudjoe as the party’s parliamentary candidate.

Corresponding to a letter signed by the EC’s Deputy Chairman of Operations, Samuel Tettey, the Commission was informed to an Order for Interlocutory Injunction against the candidacy of the NDC PC dated May 31, 202.

Speaking on the Morning Starr with Naa Dedei Tettey, he revealed that there were some rumours regarding her disqualification and personally, he engaged some key electoral commission officers much earlier so when the news came out, it did not come as a shock.

MR. Eddudzi declared that the Electoral Commission was in an indecent race to disqualify the candidate.

He emphasised that the Electoral Commission’s decision of disqualifying Joana Cudjoe is premature. “The Electoral Commission is based its decision on a purported court. The first injunction did not disqualify the candidate. Disqualification is a serious matter. The court even in Sekondi gave an interim order, an interlocutory order is not a perpetual injunction and everybody in the appreciation of the law knows what it means to be perpetually injuncted by having an interlocutory order so clearly”.

He also stated that the NDC party is not discouraged about the development adding that the party will also be heading back to the court to address the issue and with full chest, “Madam Joana Cudjoe is going to win the election and be the next MP for Amenfi Central”, Lawyer Tamakloe predicted.

Mr. Tamakloe further stated that Joana Gyan will contest against Peter Kwakye-Ackah, the Amenfi Central MP for NDC who has decided to go independent in the upcoming general election.
Moreover, he advises Peter Kwakye to be humble and further says that he is not the one to determine disqualification because he came from the NPP to join the NDC and became their candidate in 2016. “Someone like him should demonstrate magnanimity” he added.
