Kia Corporation Korea and Rana Motors have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU for technical knowledge transfer. As the world moves to electric vehicle usage to eliminate carbon footprint, the two giants in the automotive industry have taken the first step in the country to train Ghanaian technicians through the West African Vehicle Academy to equip them with emerging technology in order to prepare them adequately for the future.
The Kia Corporation Korea and Rana Motors MoU symbolises a significant step towards the advancement of technical expertise in Ghana. During his address the Chief Operating Officer of Rana Motors KASSEM ODAYMAT expressed honor to Kia Corporation for their resolve to support the training to improve the required skills and capabilities of local technicians to be grounded in the electric vehicle technology. ” Today, cars have become computers on wheels.
Technological advancement and design is fast-paced at an unprecedented speed in the auto industry. Talk about self-driven cars and electric cars are beginning to fill up the space of human-driven cars and fossil vehicles. We are in a new era and the emerging automotive technologies are closing in on us here. We in the industry here cannot wait; Ghana cannot wait. This is why we are happy with the initiative of Kia Corporation to partner Rana Motors to help equip our local technicians, students and players in the auto industry ” he stressed.
For his part, head of ownership enhancement of Kia Corporation, KWANGBYONG LEE indicates the commitment underscores Kia’s dedication to nurturing a skilled workforce in Ghana, ensuring top-tier services to customers.
” The primary purpose of this MoU is the facilitation and enhancement of technical training and skills development. Kia Corporation has pledged its support to Rana Motors providing essential technical training tools and training vehicles,” he noted.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry notes that Ghana’s drive to become an automotive hub chalked yet another giant leap out of the MoU. It therefore reiterated the government’s commitment in creating an enabling environment for the automotive industry.
Based on the pact, Kia Corporation is donating the following items in support of the training, a unit of Sorento HEV, a unit of Smart Diesel Engine, a unit of E- GMP Drive System, the rests are; each one unit of 7 speed DCT, 8-speed DCT, IVT, and two unit of Oculus Quest2.
