The National Communications Officer of the largest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has stated that former President John Dramani Mahama will break the eight-year cycle of corruption and bad governance in the country.
His comments come after the NDC Flagbearer secured the 8th position on the ballot for the 2024 presidential election.
Speaking on the Campaign Trail segment on Starr Today hosted by Tutuwaa Danso, he said the party believes the number 8 symbolizes a pivotal moment for change, following what he described as eight years of mismanagement and corruption under the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“Number eight is a good number. That is a very, very good number for me. Because what are we trying to achieve? What we are trying to achieve is for John Dramani Mahama to break the eight years of corruption, eight years of nepotism, eight years of arrogance of power, and economic mismanagement, which has plunged all of us into the mess we have on our hands.”
“The number eight signifies the fact that His Excellency John Dramani Mahama is coming to break that eight-year cycle we have seen under the New Patriotic Party, which has brought nothing but untold suffering and hardship to the people of this country. Another significance of the number eight is that our goal is for His Excellency John Dramani Mahama to serve a second term, completing a full eight years in office.”
