Martha Bissah was compromised to sign apology letter – Guardian

Guardian for Ghanaian athlete, Martha Bissah, Kwaku Nimako has disclosed that he has no knowledge about the apology letter Martha Bissah wrote to Professor Francis Dodoo and the Ghana Athletics Association on Wednesday.

Since 2016, the young athlete has been on an indefinite suspension from the Ghana Athletics Association after she accused officials of the association headed by Professor Francis Dodoo of of extortion while working on a scholarship for her to move to the United States after winning gold medal at the 2014 Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China.

The Olympic youth gold medalist was suspended because the GAA considered her actions as disrespectful and tarnishing the image of the association.

Asked to issue an apology to the parties involved for her ban to be lifted, Bissah wrote an apology letter to the GAA on Wednesday.

However, speaking exclusively on Sports Today on Starr FM, Kwaku Nimako revealed the apology letter was not written by Martha Bissah but she was asked to sign after it was written by the Director of the National Sports Authority, Prof Peter Twumasi.

“To be very frank with you, I have no knowledge about this letter. The truth of the matter is that, Professor Twumasi and his people at the NSA wrote the letter for Martha Bissah to sign, and that has been confirmed by Martha Bissah. Martha has confirmed that they gave her the letter and she signed it. This also has been confirmed by the Personal Assistant to the National Sports Authority boss on telephone” he said.

He also added that he strongly believes that the young athlete was compromised to sign the letter since the important parties involved in the case were not consulted.

“Prof Twumasi did not inform me as a guardian, he did not inform Ambassador George Lutterodt, he did not inform Mr. Randy Randolf who we went with but passed behind us and dealt with Martha Bissah. He did not show good faith in the discussion.

“They convinced Martha Bissah to sign the letter. In our visit, he gave Martha Bissah a thousand Ghana Cedis so I believe Martha has been compromised. In my conversation with Martha last night, Martha claims and still says she stands by what she said about Francis Dodoo and the GAA,” he said.
