The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has maintained Musah Ziyad as its Presiding Member (PM) following a fresh election, held one year after he assumed office to complete the unexpired term of his predecessor, Alfred Asiedu Adjei, who resigned.
Hon. Ziyad, who is also the Assembly Member for the Amamomo Electoral Area, secured a unanimous endorsement, polling all 30 votes cast, representing 100 per cent of valid votes.
He was subsequently sworn into office by Circuit Court Judge, His Honour Jojo Amoah Hagan, after being declared duly elected by the Deputy Greater Accra Regional Officer of the Electoral Commission, Victoria Yakuba.
In his remarks following the swearing-in, Hon. Ziyad expressed gratitude to Assembly Members for the renewed confidence reposed in him, describing the unanimous vote as a strong endorsement of his leadership.
He emphasised the importance of unity and collaboration in advancing the Assembly’s work, noting that sustained progress could only be achieved when members worked together towards a shared vision.
According to him, while many members had individual expectations and concerns, there was a need for sincerity and collective commitment to the development agenda of the Assembly.
He urged members to remain focused and dedicated, adding that the Assembly had the potential to achieve significant results if all stakeholders contributed their part.
