Ashanti regional secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Frank Amoakohene has criticized NAPO’s statements that voting for the NDC in the Ashanti region would place voters under a curse.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh in campaigning for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) made claims that if anybody in the Ashanti region votes for the NDC, he or she is placing himself or herself under a curse.
Speaking on Starr FM, Dr. Amakohene questioned why a vice-presidential candidate, expected to engage the people with policies and solutions, would resort to invoking curses.
“I want to understand why a vice-presidential candidate who is expected to engage the people of Ashanti region with policies, interventions, and solutions to the problems in Ashanti region will now turn into a sorcerer who will be invoking curses for whoever is on the left, right, back, center,” he stated.
He criticized NAPO’s leadership, describing him as “an apology of Iran in 1982” and a “weapon formed or fashioned against Bawumia.”
Dr. Amakohene argued that NAPO’s statements often require the party to issue disclaimers or apologies, reflecting poorly on the campaign.
He also defended the NDC’s contributions to the Ashanti region, citing various projects initiated by former President John Mahama, including the Kejetia market and several hospitals.
He dismissed the notion that these developments could be considered a curse, emphasizing that the NDC’s focus is on bringing development and interventions to the region.
“The NDC came into power for over seven years now, and everything that was left by his Excellency John Mahama has either deteriorated or has not been completed,” he noted, criticizing the current administration’s handling of ongoing projects.
