Theophilus Dzimegah Jnr., Esq., a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team, has stated unequivocally that the NDC has no interest in the ongoing proceedings seeking the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo.
Speaking in an interview with Lily Mohammed on GHToday on GHOne TV on Thursday, June 26, Dzimegah referenced multiple judicial precedents to support his position, including the Apollo case, the Justice Abban case, and the Aqua case that led to the Justice Twum case.
Dzimegah emphasized that in all those instances, the Supreme Court insisted on following due process in matters involving the Chief Justice, stressing the importance of upholding judicial integrity. He expressed concern over what he described as the silence of the Association of Judges and Magistrates and the Judicial Service Staff in the current controversy,
“There has been silence from the Association of Judges and Magistrates, silence from the judicial staff… So that should tell us something else. It has nothing.”

He further dismissed claims that the NDC is masterminding the removal of the Chief Justice, asserting that the current proceedings are being handled by individuals she has worked closely with.
“You think that the CJ is to be removed, and other justices of the Supreme Court will take this lightly and say, ‘Hey, this is the whims and caprices of the NDC, so let us just join the NDC to remove her’? No.”
According to Dzimegah, the NDC has not appointed any of the Supreme Court justices who have ruled on the cases relating to the CJ’s conduct, highlighting the fact that rulings in those matters ranging from 3-2 to 5-0 were made by her own colleagues.
He concluded that the internal disagreements and legal developments involving the Chief Justice were unfolding within a judicial system she has long supervised, adding that the situation reflects a deeper institutional response rather than political interference.
