The Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, has urged members of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) Grant Management Committee to carry out their duties with professionalism, integrity, and fairness.
Speaking at the committee’s inauguration, Opare Addo emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in the management and disbursement of grants, noting that the programme’s success hinges on the credibility of the committee’s work.
“I want to draw your attention to gender inclusivity and accessibility for persons with disabilities. I urge committee members to discharge their responsibilities with utmost professionalism, independence, and the highest standards of ethical conduct,” he said.
The Grant Management Committee is tasked with overseeing the disbursement of funds under the government’s flagship Adwumawura Programme, which aims to advance youth entrepreneurship and job creation.
Opare Addo called on members to remain impartial and ensure that only viable and scalable businesses benefit from the grants, in line with NEIP’s objectives.
Chief Executive Officer of NEIP, Eric Adjei, welcomed the inauguration, describing it as a crucial step toward enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficiency in grant administration.
Since its launch last year, the Adwumawura Programme has trained 10,887 young entrepreneurs through an intensive five-week training, and plans to support at least 2,000 viable businesses with grants.
The programme reiterated its commitment to providing technical and institutional support to enable the committee to execute its mandate effectively, and called on all stakeholders to contribute to the success of the initiative, which is expected to play a key role in reducing youth unemployment.
