Presidential Staffer, Rosemond Obeng, has accused the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, of political hypocrisy regarding the controversial Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill (Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill).
Speaking on GhOne TV’s Morning Show, #GHToday, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, Ms Obeng said the lawmaker lacks the moral authority to make those demands
“Why is Rev Ntim Fordjour being a hypocrite? Didn’t his President [Akufo-Addo] ignore the anti-LGBTQ+ bill even after Parliament passed it?” she queried.
The MP has been a vocal proponent of the bill, which seeks to criminalise the activities of Gays and Lesbians in Ghana.
The former Education Minister at a press conference questioned claims by President John Mahama that issues of LGBTQ are not a priority of the government.
He also accused President Mahama of being “hypocritical” on his stance on LGBTQ issues, arguing further that the NDC weaponized the issue during the 2024 campaign but has abandoned it since gaining power.
But Obeng argued that Ntim Fordjour’s attacks on the opposition are a distraction from the fact that his own party’s leadership has effectively stalled the bill he claims to champion.
To her, Rev Ntim Fordjour ought to have pressured the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration, of which he was a member, to sign the bill if he was serious about getting it passed into law.
