POPE declares bid for NPP National Youth Organiser, pledges to rebuild TESCON

Michael Osei Boateng, popularly known as Pope, has declared his bid for the NPP National Youth Organiser position, pledging to rebuild TESCON.

The contest for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Youth Organiser position is intensifying as the party’s National Executive Elections draw closer, with aspirants stepping up their campaigns and outlining strategies to reposition the youth wing ahead of the 2028 general elections.

One of the contenders, Michael Osei Boateng, popularly known as “Pope”, says he is the right candidate to revitalise the party’s youth structures, rebuild the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON), and reconnect the party with its grassroots supporters.

Speaking during his campaign, Pope highlighted his years of service within the party, citing his experience as Deputy Regional Youth Organiser, Regional Youth Organiser and later Regional Organiser in the former Bono Ahafo Region.

According to him, his track record demonstrates his ability to organise and mobilise party supporters even without access to government resources.

“I have served the party and organised at every level. I have built structures, mobilised foot soldiers, and delivered results.”

Pope expressed concern about the current state of the NPP’s youth wing, arguing that TESCON, once considered the party’s strongest campus-based political organisation, has lost momentum.

He said the opposition may believe it has gained dominance on university campuses, but insisted the NPP has the capacity to reclaim its influence through strategic organisation and renewed engagement.

“TESCON, our pride, has been demoralised. Our leadership has lost ground on campuses across the country.”

The National Youth Organiser hopeful pledged to rebuild the party’s presence on campuses nationwide and strengthen grassroots mobilisation as part of preparations for the 2028 elections.

He stressed that with the NPP positioning itself as “a government in waiting,” the youth wing must be well organised and ready to lead the party’s campaign efforts across the country.

“The road to 2028 starts now.”
Pope concluded by urging party faithful, particularly young members, to return to their campuses, constituencies and regions to mobilise support and help reposition the NPP for electoral victory.

His campaign forms part of an increasingly competitive race for the National Youth Organiser position ahead of the party’s National Executive Elections.
