QNET and Manchester City successfully organised a scouting and training programme for young footballers at the AL Rayan Football Park in Accra as part of efforts to support grassroots football development in Ghana.
The three-day initiative was aimed at identifying and nurturing talented young players while creating opportunities for selected participants to be scouted for possible admission into football academies across the country. The programme also focused on improving the technical abilities, tactical awareness, and overall development of the players through specialised training sessions.
Throughout the programme, coaches and scouts engaged participants in a variety of drills designed to sharpen their football fundamentals, with emphasis placed on technique, defensive organisation, decision-making, and game intelligence.
Manchester City coach and scout, Christian Marn, expressed his admiration for the enthusiasm and attitude shown by the young players during the sessions.
“It’s been great working with the players who are enjoying it as much as the coaches. We’re seeing that they’re bringing a lot of positivity to the session. If players are playing with a smile on their face, that means they’re having fun. The players have been asking questions and been very involving. The biggest thing is the character that the kids have displayed,” he said.
Deputy Regional General Manager of QNET, Abduallai Sheif, noted that the initiative forms part of the company’s commitment to youth empowerment and community development across Africa.
“The main goal for us is to give back to the community, most especially to the youth, helping them with all the resources to become leaders in the future,” he stated.

The programme concluded with a press conference and viewing party at the AL Rayan School Park, bringing together participants, coaches, organisers, and football enthusiasts to celebrate the success of the initiative.
