A Religious Expert, Prof. Ben Willy Golo, has sharply criticised government’s recent directive requiring religious leaders nationwide to submit their prophecies for review.
This move follows a surge in prophetic claims surrounding last week’s tragic helicopter crash that claimed eight lives.
Since the incident, numerous videos and audio clips have surfaced online, with some pastors claiming they foresaw the disaster.
Speaking to Tutuwaa Danso on StarrToday, Prof. Golo condemned government’s directive as inappropriate and misguided.
“I completely disagree. What do they intend to do with these prophecies once they receive them? Do they even have the capacity to determine whether a prophecy is genuine or not?” he asked.
Prof. Golo argued that rather than going public with such a controversial directive, the authorities should have handled the matter discreetly, especially if they believe in the legitimacy of some prophecies.
“If the person issuing the directive believes prophecies may be real, that is a personal belief. He could have engaged privately with prophets known for political predictions. But using state institutions to legitimize or delegitimize spiritual messages crosses a line,” he added.
He warned that the directive risks entangling personal belief systems with public authority, a move he described as dangerous and constitutionally questionable.
