Williams Mensah, the soldier caught on CCTV physically assaulting a pharmacy attendant and a female customer at a pharmacy near Burma Camp, Accra, has been granted bail of GH¢70,000 with two sureties.

The incident, which sparked widespread public outrage, was first brought to light when GHOne TV circulated the video on October 29, 2025.

The footage showed Mensah engaging in a heated argument with the pharmacist before physically attacking both the pharmacist and a female customer, who had attempted to record the altercation on her phone.

Following the public backlash, the Military Police arrested Mensah and took him into custody for questioning and further investigation.

The Ghana Armed Forces condemned the assault and reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on misconduct by military personnel.

Civil society organizations also voiced strong criticism of the incident, urging accountability and strict enforcement of professional conduct standards within the military.
