Nigerian music video director and cinematographer, ThankGod Omori Jesam, widely known as TG Omori or Boy Director, has shared the harrowing journey of receiving a kidney transplant from his only brother. In an emotional Instagram post on Wednesday, Omori disclosed that his brother had donated a kidney to him, offering a lifeline amidst his ongoing battle with a severe kidney-related ailment.
Omori, who has been conspicuously absent from the public eye in recent months, posted a photo from his hospital bed, where he expressed deep gratitude for his brother’s selfless act. “Yesterday, my only brother gave me one of his kidneys so I could live again. Keep my spirit alive. I don’t wanna die,” he wrote, capturing the intense emotional and physical toll of his condition.
The post, which included an image of Omori crying while receiving oxygen, quickly garnered an outpouring of support from fans and followers who were previously unaware of the director’s health struggles. Omori had hinted at his deteriorating condition through cryptic tweets, including one last month where he implored his followers, “If I cross your mind, sometimes say a prayer for me.”
In the early hours of August 28, 2024, Omori took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm the transplant, stating, “Yesterday, my only brother gave me one of his kidneys so I could live again.” However, the relief was short-lived, as Omori later revealed a heartbreaking development—a failed transplant.
“One year after my kidney crashed, I just had a failed transplant at St Nicolas Hospital Lagos. Pray for me,” Omori shared. He described the ordeal as going through “hell,” and noted that this was his third time entering the operating theater within the past year. Despite the setbacks, Omori’s resolve remains unbroken, as he concluded with a hopeful sentiment, “I was not just destined to die today.”
The revelations have sparked widespread concern, with many taking to social media to offer prayers and encouragement for his recovery. TG Omori, who has significantly impacted the Nigerian music industry with his award-winning cinematography, continues to fight for his life while the world watches and waits, hoping for a successful recovery.
As Omori’s story unfolds, it serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the extraordinary lengths to which family will go to protect one of their own.
