In a world rapidly shaped by digital innovation, Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, has called on students to leverage technology in solving pressing issues in their communities and beyond.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of a sensitization workshop on ECOWAS protocols for tertiary students in Accra, Glover emphasized the importance of using technological tools to address social, economic, and environmental challenges.
The workshop, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration in collaboration with ECOWAS, brought together over 12 selected Senior High Schools from the capital.
It aimed to raise awareness among young people about ECOWAS protocols, policies, and the broader political and social landscape of West Africa.
Reflecting on his own educational journey, Titus Glover encouraged the students, saying, “I was once like you when I started at PRESEC Legon before moving to Accra Academy. But these days, the temptation of fast money is a challenge, partly due to our exposure to technology. Technology has its good side and its bad side, depending on how we use it.”
He urged the students to use modern technologies positively: “Use these tools to develop your skills, shape your lives, and, as you grow, help your family, society, country, and the entire ECOWAS subregion.”
Mr.Glover also stressed that the time is ripe for young minds to embrace digital innovations and use them to solve contemporary problems effectively.
Ambassador Rames J. Cheland, Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, also addressed the students, emphasizing the importance of understanding ECOWAS protocols such as the free movement of people and goods, as well as promoting democratic governance and conflict resolution. He pointed out that the ongoing projects within the region are making a significant impact on the social, economic, and political landscape.
Ambassador Cheland also emphasized the importance of Ghana’s contributions to ECOWAS, noting that the country’s input is vital in achieving the regional organization’s goals.
He further stated Ghanaians contributions and insights will be crucial as we work together to advance the goals of ECOWAS.
