The United Kingdom has opened applications for the 2027–2028 Chevening Scholarships, offering emerging leaders and professionals from Ghana the opportunity to pursue a master’s degree at a UK university while joining a global network of future leaders.

Funded by the UK Government through the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and partner organizations, Chevening is more than a scholarship programme. It is a global network of future leaders committed to strengthening international partnerships and addressing shared challenges.

Applications for the new scholarship cycle are open until 6 October 2026 at 11:00 UTC.

This year’s application campaign is being launched under the theme “Are You Chevening Ready?”, encouraging prospective applicants to look beyond the basic eligibility requirements and assess their leadership experience, professional achievements, ambitions and potential impact.

The campaign seeks candidates who can demonstrate the potential to drive meaningful change, build international partnerships and contribute to Ghana’s development after completing their studies.

As applications open, the British High Commission in Accra is also preparing to celebrate Ghana’s newest Chevening and Commonwealth Scholars ahead of their departure to the UK this September, highlighting both the achievements of this year’s cohort and the search for the next generation of Ghanaian leaders.

Speaking on the opening of this year’s Chevening application cycle, Chris Halliday, Deputy British High Commissioner to Ghana, said:

“Chevening is more than a scholarship; it is an investment in people with the ambition, leadership potential and commitment to create positive change. Through education, partnerships and people-to-people connections, it strengthens the enduring relationship between the UK and Ghana. As we celebrate Ghana’s newest Chevening and Commonwealth Scholars and wish them well as they prepare for study in the UK, we are also looking ahead to the next generation of leaders who will follow in their footsteps. I encourage prospective applicants to reflect carefully on their goals, the impact they want to make, and whether they are ready to become part of a global community of leaders committed to driving positive change.”

Successful Chevening Scholars gain access to a world-class UK education, an immersive cultural experience and a lifelong connection to a global network of more than 60,000 Chevening alumni worldwide. Chevening alumni work across a range of sectors, including economic growth and prosperity, climate resilience, media, security and stability, governance and inclusive development.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to read the application guidance, familiarize themselves with Chevening’s vision and consider how their proposed course of study aligns with their professional goals, future contribution to Ghana and the wider Chevening network.
