Akufo-Addo’s 100 days monumental failure – NDC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has painted a bleak picture of President Akufo-Addo’s first 100 days in office, describing it as a “100 days of lawlessness and deception.”

According to its National Organiser, Kofi Adams,  the president’s first 100 days in office has been a monumental failure.

Addressing a Joy FM’s town hall meeting Monday April 17, 2017, to mark the government’s first 100 days in office, Vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said the governing NPP did not make any promises for 100 days,  but it can point to over 100 achievements thus far.

“Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government has been in office for 100 days now. Well, we did not make any promises for 100 days. We made promises for what we wanted to deliver to Ghana during our term in office.

“Notwithstanding that however, the government under the leadership of what I can say…our workaholic president…we can point to some significant achievements in these last 1oo days. Specifically, I’m going to mention 103 achievements of this government in these last 100 days,” he stated.

But speaking Monday April 17, 2017,  to Starr News, Mr. Adams said the vice president’s pronouncements were nothing but a charade and that the so called 103 achievements were nothing but a rehash of the party’s campaign promises.

“…This hundred days has been a monumental failure. Security-wise we have so much more disaster. We expected that the security of the nation should be carried on the way it was handed over to this government. We have seen a lot of  failures,” he stated.

He further observed that the claims by the vice president that they have arrested the “running” cedi in their first 100 days were untrue.

“The cedi has appreciated in value. When we came in it was running …and essentially we have arrested it,” he said, adding humorously, “and the IGP has the key he’s locked it up,” said Dr. Bawumia.

The local currency has appreciated by some 0.41 percent since the beginning of the year, selling at GH¢4.16 to the dollar among commercial banks as at Wednesday April 12, 2017.

But in his reaction, Mr. Adams noted that the appreciation of the cedi was a trend that had been witnessed even before the election.

He urged the president to wake up, warning that if what the president did in 100 days continues then “this country is in for a disaster.”

“We are not going to see anything good. We are not going to see anything better. I believe that they must sit back quickly, readjust and do something meaningful,” he added.
