Words fly, tears flow at a valedictory service for Kofi Ansah

The farewell ceremony organized by Old Students’ Association for the outgoing headmaster of Bueman Senior High was a tearjerker.

The event was held at Togbe Akotia Hall of the school at Jasikan in the Volta Region on Friday afternoon.

The ceremony became very poignant at this stage, when the old students expressed their appreciation to the outgoing headmaster (Kofi Ansah) with deep emotions, as those messages were filled with deep sentiments. Tears welled up in the eyes of hundreds of students, teachers and old students as some took to social media to express their sadness at his retirement.

Mr. Ansah retires next month after serving the school as National Service personnel, Teacher, Assistant Headmaster and Headmaster for thirty-two (32) years.

For the Old Students, the visit was occasioned by thoughtful trip down memory lane of how he had contributed immensely to shaping their lives physically, mentally, academically and spiritually to become better members of society.

“Your perceptiveness as an educator transcended all boundaries and for you, that path was endless – not only confined to the walls of the classroom, but to the cultural arena where your scope for creativity was incomparable.

“Your tenacity, drive, and enthusiasm have made Bueman a healthy institution with a positive future during those metamorphic periods.

“As you start the next chapter of your life, know that you will be sorely missed; and that retirement is a time to look back with admiration; retirement, is a time to look forward with anticipation.

“We (BOSA) will miss your professional expertise, Your Shared Insights, mentorship, Your Gentle Guidance and your friendship; you have left your indelible mark. This truly is the end of a remarkable era.’ Adieu, Gordon Kofi Ansah – 1985 to 2017,” portions of a citation presented to him read

They consequently presented to him an adorable silver medal, a citation in honour of his service, and a television set.

“These gifts were just to show a token of our sincere appreciation to you as, no amount of material gifts could measure to the significant role you played in molding our lives,” Vincent Avornyo said.

The old students did not only honour Ansah but also donated one hundred and fifty buckets of paint for the repainting of the entire school.

According to Ansah, the valedictory service was a good sign, and that the Old Students didn’t wait to appreciate him posthumously for being good ambassador of the school and enjoin them to always look back at the school that created their paths into the future.

Gordon Ansah in his acceptance speech expressed his overwhelming astonishment at what the Old Students did and reiterated that, they did not only pass through BUSEC as students but allowed the virtues, hard work, discipline and moral values of BUSEC to pass through them.

The teachers on the other hand, also gave their individual acknowledgements and appreciations to the old students for the splendid act of love and gratitude shown at Kofi Ansah.
