The Food and Drugs Authority has launched an investigation into the alleged sale of plastic fish on the Ghanaian market.
The investigation follows a video currently circulating on social media suggesting that a plastic fish has been purchased at the Mallam Atta Market in Accra.
Some Ghanaians have recently raised concerns over the quality of food on the market with the authority investigating a case of plastic rice in 2017. Public Relations Officer of the Authority, James Lartey told Starr News earlier investigations revealed that the fish were genuine and not plastic.
“The said Plastic Fish was brought to our attention and our investigations indicated that it was genuine fish, a similar concern was also raised with regard to a particular bottled water and after investigations, it turned out to be false.So we will appeal to the general public to verify with the FDA before circulating such information because such information only causes fear and panic”.
