Popular Nigerian artiste Wizkid on Sunday pipped Ghanaian Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy to the 2017 BET Best International Act award.
Stonebwoy was nominated alongside Tekno, Mr. Eazi, Davido, Aka, Nasty C and Babes Wodumo.
The night also witnessed new mother of twins Beyonce winning five out of seven nominations with Lemonade winning album of the year and best female R&B/pop artist at the ceremony held at the Los Angeles Microsoft Theater.
Remy Ma ended the seven year reign of Nicki Minaj as best female hip-hop artist.
Bruno Mars took home his first two BET awards for best male R&B/ pop artist and best video.
One of the evening’s biggest surprises was Tamar Braxton’s powerful, throw-the-mic-stand-down performance of her latest single “My Man” at the end; the singer had the audience erupting in a cheer-filled ovation.
