Golfers defied the rains to turn up in numbers for the 5th Jonah Golf Cup held at the Achimota Golf Club on Saturday June 30th, 2018. The event attracted several dignitaries including the Special Guest of Honor His Majesty Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, Sir Sam Jonah, the Patron of the event, the British High Commissioner H.E Ian Walker, South Korean Ambassador Kim Sungsoo and many business leaders of the country.
The tournament which saw Santa Golf the defending champion lock horns with MOBA in a Match Play Duel, teed off at 8:00am with each team fielding 20 golfers. In the end MOBA Golf came out victorious defeating Santa Golf by 10-9 points.
In the supporting tournament, the Sir Sam Jonah Invitational, which also attracted over 100 golfers including several CEOs and business leaders was equally thrilling. In a Stableford scoring tournament after 18-holes of rigorous golfing Seidu Foster playing off Handicap 24 shot an impressive 47 points to emerge the Winner and earn himself a new Handicap of 18. Thomas Jennings and Linus Yoo, placed 2nd and 3rd respectively with Stableford points 41 and 40.
In his remarks His Majesty Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin asked the golfers and guest to be humble in all their activities. The Patron of the event Sir Sam Jonah on his part thanked the event Organizers and the various Sponsors for putting together one of the best golf events the country has witnessed.
