Zoomlion Ghana Limited has assured workers under the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) Fumigation Project that all outstanding salary arrears will be paid once the company receives delayed funds from the government.
In a press statement issued on Monday, the company acknowledged growing concerns among fumigation workers over delays in salary payments and said it understood the hardship the situation has caused.
According to Zoomlion, the delays are linked to the late release of funds under the MMDA Fumigation Project, stressing that the situation is an exception to its long-standing record of meeting its financial obligations to workers.
“Management wishes to assure all affected workers that the company fully appreciates the challenges associated with the delay and remains committed to ensuring that every legitimate outstanding payment is made as soon as the necessary funds are received,” the statement said.
The company noted that it has maintained a strong payment record over the past 15 years for employees and field operatives engaged under the nationwide fumigation programme.
It disclosed that it has remained in continuous engagement with the Government of Ghana and the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to facilitate the release of the outstanding funds.
According to the company, the discussions have been constructive, with assurances that the necessary processes are being finalised to enable the disbursement of the payments.
Zoomlion reaffirmed its commitment to settling all arrears immediately after the funds are released.
The company also expressed appreciation to the affected workers for their patience, understanding and dedication despite the payment delays, describing their contribution as vital to sustaining vector control and environmental sanitation interventions across the country.
While recognising the constitutional right of workers to express their concerns peacefully, Zoomlion appealed to them to remain calm and maintain confidence in the ongoing engagements aimed at resolving the matter.
The company further reiterated its commitment to the welfare of its employees and pledged to continue delivering quality environmental sanitation services in support of national development.
Management expressed confidence that the current challenge would be resolved through continued cooperation with the government, MMDAs and other stakeholders.
