NDC election: Kevor in pole position to retain secretary job

The incumbent Eastern regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress Kevor Mark- Oliver has been tipped to retain his position in the Regional Executives Conference to be held today at Apegusu in the Asuogyaman Constituency .

The incumbent Regional Secretary, Kevor Mark- Oliver is being battled by Baba Jamal Konneh who is the incumbent Regional Communication Officer.

Mark Oliver Kevor, quit his Job as Lecturer at the Presbyterian University College to enable him fully serve the NDC Party four years ago.

His reelection bid has received overwhelming endorsement from across the Constituencies in the region. The latest to Join few hours to the election are the Constituency Secretaries who have issued a statement declaring their support and endorsement of his second term bid.

“We (constituency Secretaries ) are by this statement asking the rank and file of the party to throw their support behind him and vote massively to retain him in the upcoming regional congress slated for Atimpoku on September, 1″.

The statement issued by the Constituency Secretaries and signed by Atinas Fredrick Okoro stated that that ” the NDC has come a long way since it was formed in 1992. As a political party we have gone through the processes, both in Government and in opposition in the history of this country. Men and women have played an important role in the party and the current secretary’s name cannot be wiped out “.

According to the Secretaries, while in Government and in opposition Kevor demonstrated his competence and political experience that brought vibrancy and dynamism to the party.

“Kevor’s enviable record in the Party, especially in the areas of communication, electoral affairs and an appreciable knowledge of grounds operation is crucial in the forward movement of the National Democratic Congress. We are awed by his spirited determination to combine his professional work as a university lecturer and his commitment as regional secretary in this critical moment of our party.

“He has held the position of a branch secretary, constituency youth organizer (Abetifi) , acting regional communications director, a member of the team that helped in drafting and developing the party’s biometric register.

“By dint of hard work and perseverance, then president Mahama appointed him as a member of the board of the National Communications Authority (NCA)”.

They described him as selfless, dedicated and worthy to be emulated by the youth of of party thereby calling on the delegates of the NDC to trust Kevor to marshal forces together to ensure massive victory for the party in 2020.

A total of 60 candidates are battling for various positions at the regional level with the chairmanship position and regional secretary position being the hottest contesting positions.

Election for the Youth ,and Women Organizer positions have already been held of which Shirley Naana Ampem defeated long time women organizer,Evelyn Korang while Kwadwo Minta won the Youth Organizer position.

Incumbent Regional Chiarman, Bismark Tawiah Boateng, is being contested by Basil Ahiable ,and John Owusu Amankrah after Alhaji Sumaila Stepped down few hours to the election to support Mr.Amankrah.
