Police officers have fired tear gas to disperse protesting drivers and residents at Manhean, a suburb of Ablekuma in the Greater Accra region.
The drivers and the residents are demonstrating over the poor nature of their roads.
The irate residents set fire to portions of the road cutting off the community with heavy police presence as well as fire service personnel currently in the area trying to maintain calm.
Starr News understands that the Police had to fire tear gas to disperse the crowd.
The situation has forced private car owners to use a not so familiar Amasaman route to get to their business destinations.
The stretch of road from Ablekuma to Afuaman has deteriorated since the onset of the rains making the less than 15 minutes journey now span close to an hour.
The drivers who have set fire to tyres on some portions of the road say they will not resume operations until the road is fixed.
