Managing Director for the Ghana Publishing Company limited David Asante says his decision to contest parliamentary primaries of the governing New Patriotic Party, NPP in the Nkawkaw constituency is to cure what he terms lack of leadership over the years.
Mr. Asante has picked nomination forms to contest Eastern Regional Minister Eric Darffour, the incumbent. Two former Mps Seth Adjei Baah who went to parliament as an independent candidate after the 2008 elections and Hon Kwabena Adusa Okerchire, a two time Mp attempting a return.
The only lady is the race is Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Middle Belt Development Authority Joyce Opoku Boateng who came second to the incumbent Eric Darffour during the previous Primaries.
In an interview with Starr News after picking his forms in the company of scores of party supporters David Asante who doubles as convener for the Let My Vote Count Alliance said he’s only responding to numerous calls from constituents to enter the race. He argued the constituency needs urgent change to ensure a transformation.
‘’I am coming to introduce a new Paradigm shift in the way Nkawkaw has been managed from the parliamentarian point of view and from the leadership point of view.’’
Mr. Asante argued the constituency has been deprived of leadership for far too long
“The president is doing a lot as the leader of the party but he needs competent MPs to support the overall governmental business and ambition, plans and policies. You look around and we sense lack of leadership drive.
“Look, MPs do not construct roads, MPs do not have resources to build schools but we have a history of MPs who have taken advantage of their wise sense of economic connectivity to bring development into the constituency. Twenty four (24) years of consistently voting for MPs in Nkawkaw, I think the leadership of Nkawkaw have failed the people in the area,’’. David Asante stated.
