The Chairman of the Health Committee of Parliament Dr Kwabena Twum-Nuamah is calling on the Ghana Police to administer justice for the nurse who was allegedly raped and murdered in the Ashanti region last.
“I want to urge the Inspector-General of Police in particular and the Police, in general, to expedite action to deliver justice,” Dr Twum-Nuamah said on the floor of parliament.
He said the state cannot deny Ms Ruth Eshun justice by delaying the investigation into the incident that led to her untimely death, since “justice delayed is justice denied.”
A ranking member, Kwabena Mintah Akandor, also speaking in parliament demanded swift action from the IGP and the Interior Minister to bring perpetrators of the alleged murder to book.
Ms. Eshun was last seen by her colleagues, on Monday, February 3rd, 2020, after leaving the Sewua Health Centre, where she worked as a registered community health nurse.
Her lifeless body was later found at Ayuom near Sewua in the Bosomtwe District, a few meters to her home last week.
Various interest groups, including the Community Health Nurses Association of Ghana, have also been demanding justice for the nurse with the Police picking up one person in connection with the suspected murder.
