Luck eluded a twenty-seven-year-old notorious armed robber Gideon Addai who has allegedly been terrorizing residents of Assin Fosu Pump Side.
The youth in the area gathered momentum to arrest him at dawn on Monday June 14 after allegedly attacking a victim at gunpoint.
According to them, four other accomplices took to their heels after the gang leader Addai was arrested and beaten mercilessly.
However, an intervention of the Assin Fosu police patrol team saved his life and he is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
Items retrieved from the suspect include locally manufactured pistols, cartridges, scissors, knives, indian hemp, matches, etc.
Some eyewitnesses who spoke to Kasapa FM’s Yaw Boagyan said they saw the wanted suspect with a gun attempting to rob some people and quickly ran to the person’s aid.
“We gathered in our huge numbers and rushed to the scene and collected the gun from his hands and we started beating him up till he pulped up.
Meanwhile, the Assin Fosu Divisional Crime Officer DSP Daniel Darko confirming the incident says the suspect is in their custody and investigations are underway to get the other 4 accomplices arrested.
However, he failed to speak on record saying it’s was too early to make any comments on the matter.
