Hearts of Oak have reclaimed the top spot on the Ghana Premier League standings after a 2-1 over Legon Cities at the Accra sports stadium.

Going up against Legon Cities FC a day after their bitterest rivals Kotoko climbed to the summit of the log after victory over Karela, the Phobians needed to win maximum points to reclaim the top spot ahead of the weekend’s top clash with their rivals and that’s exactly what they did by putting up an impressive performance to win over Legon Cities.

In a game played under floodlights, the visitors took the lead through Kwadwo Obeng Jnr in the 29th minute before midfielder Frederick Ansah Botchway doubled the lead 10 minutes later for the Rainbow club.

Legon Cities FC halve the deficit almost immediately through a strike from Victorien Adebayor in the 40th minute but Hearts of Oak held onto their lead in the second half to cruise to a 2-1 win at the end of the 90 minutes of exciting football between the two Accra based sides.

Hearts of Oak battle their eternal rivals and main contender for this seasons Ghana Premier league on Sunday and what has been christened “The Decider” at the Accra sports stadium.
