Leading online and gaming brand, Betway engaged a number of stakeholders in the Cape Coast Municipal Assembly on regulatory compliance in the gaming industry.
At the workshop held at the Ridge Royal Hotel in Cape Coast, representatives from the Financial Intelligence Center and Local Assembly shared thoughts on how to safeguard the interest of players in the area.
As part of measures taken to comply with gaming regulations, Betway has put in place a number of verification steps to ensure that its users are over the ages of eighteen years. The process increating a Betway account requires you to provide details of avalid ID (Voters, Driver’s License or Passport) and mobile money number which should be registered in the account bearer’s name.
Speaking at the workshop, Country Manager – Operations at Betway Ghana, Magnus Rex Danquah Jnr. mentioned that they have put in place a number of checks to flag money launders and have also appointed an Anti-Money Laundering Regulatory Officer (AMLRO) for this purpose.
“We are committed to enforcing regulatory compliance in the industry. All players are required to submit identification cards when registering to access our platform. These cards are verified in real time before access is granted to these players. We also have put in place systems to check player activities and monitor money launder” he said.
Stakeholders present jointly commended Betway for organizing such workshops and called for a unified approach to sanitizing the sports betting industry in Ghana.
