As Ghana gears up for another critical election period, the call for peace and unity remains vital. Empire FM has taken a proactive approach to this cause through the “Oil City Health Walk (Peace Campaign Edition),” which brought together hundreds of participants in Sekondi-Takoradi.
The walk, which started and ended at the Takoradi Mall, was organized to promote peace by leveraging the power of health and fitness. Participants from all walks of life came out to walk side by side, delivering a strong message about the importance of peaceful coexistence before, during, and after the elections, especially as the nation approaches the general elections.
Several participants expressed their delight at the initiative and emphasized the importance of everyone playing their part in ensuring peace as the December 7 general elections draw near.
Lawyer Fiifi Buckman, the NDC parliamentary candidate for Kwesimintsim, noted how essential peace is for the coming elections, saying, “Ghana is what we have; we have no other place. This is a very peaceful country, and we are in it as one people, so we should strive to ensure there is peace.”
Also, Justice Maxwell Acquah, the first vice chairman of the NPP in the Takoradi Constituency, said, “We always need to promote that we are all one people, regardless of our political affiliation.”
The event was unique as it was organized in collaboration with the Confederation of Masquerade Groups, which provided invigorating brass band music. The walk concluded with an aerobics session filled with refreshments, creating an atmosphere of joy and unity. With the support of sponsors such as GNPC, Bedrock Insurance, ADB, GOIL, Takoradi Mall, Verna Natural Mineral Water, Sticheez, JoGio Decor, and JustMax Travel and Tours, the walk emphasized a collective commitment to fostering peace and well-being across the country as the general elections approach.
