The Ministry of Health has constituted a seven-member committee to investigate the recent unrest at the Nursing Training College in Techiman-Krobo, which led to the temporary closure of the school.
The committee, chaired by Professor Vida Nyagre Yekong, has been tasked with establishing the facts surrounding the disturbances, determining whether the school’s policies, code of conduct and administrative procedures were followed, and recommending appropriate action to the Minister for Health.
Other members include representatives from the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council, the Nursing and Midwifery Council, the Conference of Heads of Health Training Institutions, the Ghana Nurse-Midwife Trainees’ Association, the Techiman-Krobo Traditional Council, and the Ministry of Health’s Legal Directorate.
According to the Ministry, the committee has been given until August 11, 2026, to submit a comprehensive report on its findings.
The investigation follows a violent student protest at the Techiman-Krobo Nursing Training College that resulted in the arrest of two students and prompted the Ministry to order the immediate temporary closure of the institution pending further action.
