Deputy Chairman in charge of corporate services at the Electoral Commission (EC), Dr. Bossman Asare has strongly refuted allegations suggesting collusion between the Electoral Commission (EC) and the government, asserting that the EC’s processes are transparent and conducted with full involvement of political parties.
Speaking on GHOne TV with Lantam Papanko, Dr. Asare dismissed claims of an EC-government alliance as mischievous and based on a lack of understanding of the electoral process.
He emphasized the collaborative nature of electoral operations, highlighting the presence of party agents at every stage.
“Anyone who understands our processes, anyone who jumps to that conclusion is being mischievous. When we register, we do it with the parties; the parties are allowed agents at all the registration centers. After registration, the data is shared; we give copies of registers to the parties. Everything we are doing, we do it with the political parties”, Dr. Asare stated.
He further reinforced the EC’s commitment to transparency by detailing the involvement of political parties in ballot paper production
“There are two agents of every political party currently at every printing press that is printing the ballot papers.”
The Electoral Commission has been accused of bedding with the sitting government by some political parties of biases and attempts to rig the elections coming December 7th.
His detailed explanation of the EC’s operational processes aims to counter these allegations and assure the public of the Commission’s commitment to fairness and transparency. He asserted that anyone claiming collusion between the EC and the government is simply choosing to ignore the open nature of electoral procedures.
