Parliament has unanimously approved the nomination of three ministers, following their successful vetting by the Appointments Committee. This marks the first batch of approvals for ministerial appointments made by President John Mahama.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam and Majority Leader, has been confirmed as the Minister of Finance. John Jinapor, MP for Yapei-Kusawgu, will serve as the Minister of Energy, while Dr. Dominic Ayine, MP for Bolgatanga East, has been appointed Attorney-General and Minister for Justice.
The approvals were finalized during a parliamentary session presided over by the Second Deputy Speaker, Andrew Asiamah Amoako. During the session, members from both the Majority and Minority sides debated the nominations extensively, ultimately reaching a consensus on the competence and suitability of the three nominees.
In their remarks, MPs praised the nominees for their track records and expressed confidence in their ability to deliver in their respective roles.
Dr. Ato Forson, a seasoned economist and former Deputy Finance Minister, is expected to lead the nation’s financial sector amid ongoing economic challenges. John Jinapor, who previously served as Deputy Minister of Energy, brings a wealth of experience to his new role as the head of the Energy Ministry. Meanwhile, Dr. Dominic Ayine, a legal scholar and former Deputy Attorney-General, will oversee the Justice Ministry, ensuring the rule of law and governance.
The unanimous approval of the three ministers signifies a strong bipartisan commitment to supporting capable leadership in critical sectors of the economy.
