The Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has reaffirmed the commitment of President John Dramani Mahama to implementing the 24-Hour Economy policy as part of efforts to drive economic growth and job creation.
Ato Forson, during his presentation of the 2025 Budget, highlighted the policy’s role in addressing structural economic challenges by fostering a more integrated, efficient, and export-driven industrial economy.
“We remain committed to the pursuit of our 24-Hour Economy policy aimed at stimulating economic growth and job creation. This policy will contribute to addressing Ghana’s structural economic challenges by creating an integrated, efficient, and increasingly export-driven industrial economy that fully utilises our national resources, capital, and labour power,” the minister stated.
He further announced that the policy would soon be presented to Parliament for deliberation and necessary legislative reviews. “We will be presenting the 24-Hour Economy policy to Parliament in due course. In this respect, the Labour Act, the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre Act, and other enabling legislations will be reviewed,” he added.
The 24-Hour Economy policy is expected to create more employment opportunities, enhance productivity, and position Ghana as a competitive player in the global economy. The proposed legislative reviews will seek to align existing laws with the policy’s objectives, ensuring a conducive environment for businesses and workers operating under a 24-hour economic model.
