Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications Team, Kweku Quarshie, has criticized President John Dramani Mahama’s recent security appointments, arguing that the president has not made any extraordinary changes to the security system but has rather disrupted the lives of young men employed under the previous administration.
Speaking on GHOne TV with Lily Mohammed, Quarshie stated that it is common practice for any newly elected president to appoint individuals they trust, particularly in security roles.
He emphasized that Mahama’s recent security shake-up is not unusual.
“About the appointment of security capos by the president, I think that he hasn’t done anything new or extraordinary. These are security matters, and any president would naturally choose people they are comfortable working with, especially when it comes to security. You must trust the person and believe in their loyalty to protect the nation and yourself,” he explained.
However, he accused the president of destabilizing the employment structure within the government by dismissing several individuals appointed by the previous administration.
“What he has shaken up are the lives of young men who were employed by the previous administration. He has affected people negatively by terminating appointments in various agencies without reason. Many people have been sacked since he took office,” Quarshie claimed.
