Wa–Tumu–Bolgatanga Road to be completed under ‘Big Push’ Initiative – Agbodza assures

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has assured the Chief and people of Sissala that the government remains fully committed to completing the Wa–Tumu–Bolgatanga road corridor under the ambitious ‘Big Push’ initiative.

The initiative seeks to transform Ghana’s road infrastructure, enhancing economic growth, accessibility, and regional connectivity.

Speaking to journalists after leading a team of engineers to inspect the corridor during his working tour of the northern sector, Mr. Agbodza stated that this is more than a promise — it is a social contract.

“President Mahama will ensure the completion of this road corridor before the end of his tenure,” he stated firmly.

“Despite the scope of other road projects, President Mahama has prioritised several critical ones under the ‘Mahama Infrastructure Plan’, and this corridor is among them. It reflects his unwavering commitment to the people of Sissala,” he reiterated.

He revealed that a final inspection of all targeted roads is currently underway, with construction set to begin in June.

To contractors already working on the project, Mr. Agbodza had this message: “Keep pushing. You will be the first to be considered for additional projects. We acknowledge the debts owed, and we are committed to settling them. But we urge you to maintain momentum. We will not let your efforts go unrewarded.”

Meanwhile, Member of Parliament for Sissala East, Mohammed Issah Bataglia, expressed optimism that President Mahama will soon commence full-scale work on the corridor.
