The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) have announced an extension of operating hours at two key regional airports—Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi and the Tamale International Airport.
The new schedule, which takes effect from Saturday, June 1, 2025, is aimed at improving domestic air travel convenience and connectivity.
According to a joint statement released by the aviation authorities, the revised operational hours will see Prempeh I International Airport open from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., while Tamale International Airport will operate between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
The decision is expected to ease travel constraints, particularly for business travelers, traders, and passengers who rely on flexible travel between Ghana’s northern and southern regions.

In an official public notice, the authorities stated, “Ghana Civil Aviation Authority and Ghana Airports Company Limited wish to inform the general public about the extension of operational hours at Prempeh I International Airport (PIA), Kumasi and Tamale International Airport (TIA) with effect from 1st June 2025.”
A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued by the GCAA to all airlines, and domestic carriers have been encouraged to increase flight frequency to and from both airports to accommodate the extended hours.
