Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) has slammed the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), for raiding their office, describing it as “unwarranted and unjustified”.

According to them, this action by the OSP poses a serious threat to Ghana’s national revenue assurance infrastructure.

SML, in a statement on Wednesday, June 11, confirmed that its offices in Osu and Tema were stormed by OSP officers and National Security operatives on Tuesday without prior notice or the presentation of a warrant.

The operation, which forms part of an ongoing investigation into a controversial government contract worth over $500 million, reportedly resulted in the seizure of vital company assets.

These include servers, proprietary documents, gold analyzers, and technical equipment—many of which, SML claims, were still under development and essential to its work with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

According to SML, four staff members were temporarily detained, and two others were physically assaulted during the raid.

The OSP’s court-sanctioned action is believed to target the retrieval of key digital data linked to the controversial contract between SML and the GRA, signed under the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

The Special Prosecutor is reportedly examining financial irregularities associated with the deal, which was allegedly awarded through a single-source procurement process despite the company’s limited track record.

Responding to the raid, SML emphasised its ongoing cooperation with investigative authorities. It revealed that it had already complied with a formal request for documentation from the OSP on March 13, 2025, and submitted all relevant materials by March 27.

The company maintains that it remains committed to transparency, accountability, and supporting national governance efforts, but stressed that the manner of Tuesday’s raid was both excessive and damaging.

A portion of the SML statement noted, “Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) wishes to formally express its concern over the unwarranted invasion and coordinated operations conducted on Tuesday, 10th June 2025, by personnel from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), supported by National Security operatives, at our divisional offices in Osu and Tema. The operation led to the removal of critical working equipment, significant damage to properties, the temporary detention of staff members and assaults on staff members.”
