The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has confirmed that the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo)’s 161kV Aboadze–Tarkwa transmission line has suffered damage, affecting electricity supply to parts of the Western and Ashanti Regions.
In a statement, the Ministry said GRIDCo’s technical team has been dispatched to the site and is working around the clock to restore the line and ensure normal power transmission is resumed as soon as possible.
The incident, according to initial assessments, could cause temporary power disruptions in some parts of Kumasi, Tarkwa, and nearby communities.
“We wish to assure the general public that every effort is being made to repair the damage and normalise the situation,” the statement read.
It further expressed regret over the inconvenience caused, reaffirming government’s commitment to maintaining a stable and reliable power supply nationwide.
