The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, has commended Team Ghana for their remarkable performance at the ANOCA Zone III Games held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
During a presentation ceremony held on October 29, 2025, the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) officially presented the victorious contingent to the Minister following their outstanding showing at the regional competition.

Team Ghana, made up of 47 athletes across four disciplines; volleyball, handball, taekwondo, and karate-do; returned home with an impressive 10 medals, including 1 gold, 4 silver, and 5 bronze.
The men’s volleyball team emerged gold medalists after a dominant campaign, while both the men’s and women’s handball teams claimed silver medals. In karate-do, Ghana secured two silver and two bronze, and the taekwondo team added three bronze medals, rounding off a strong collective performance.
Hon. Kofi Adams lauded the athletes for their discipline, determination, and resilience, describing their achievements as a testament to Ghana’s growing sporting excellence on the continental stage.

The Minister also recognized the Ghana Olympic Committee, technical officials, and the Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso for their unwavering support throughout the games.

He reaffirmed government’s commitment to sports development and youth empowerment, announcing plans to construct multi-purpose courts in every district, equipped for basketball, netball, handball, tennis, and volleyball.
Hon. Adams emphasized that investing in sports is an investment in national pride and youth potential, revealing that the Sports Development Fund will soon be rolled out to address challenges faced by athletes and federations.
He further praised the athletes for serving as ambassadors of Ghana’s values, projecting a positive image of the country through their hard work and success.
The Ministry extended heartfelt congratulations to all athletes, coaches, and officials, assuring them of continued government support in preparation for future international competitions.
